NIGMS Reorganization!
The National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) recently announced its reorganization (https://loop.nigms.nih.gov/index.php/2012/01/04/nigms-reorganizes/), which includes the newly formed Division of Training, Workforce Development, and Diversity (TWD).  This division, in part, fosters the development of undergraduate and graduate students and postdoctoral fellows for a strong and diverse biomedical research workforce.  The TWD division merges the former MORE division with all of the Institute’s other research training programs, including T32 predoctoral and postdoctoral institutional programs, along with the Institutional Development Award (IDEA) program from the former National Center of Research Resources (NCRR).
To this end, the formerly entitled “MORE 2012 Meeting” is changed to TWD 2012 Meeting and now includes all active NIGMS T32 and IDEA Program Directors along with Program Directors/Co-Program Directors, Program Coordinators and Business Officials of the following student/postdoctoral development programs: Bridges to the Baccalaureate (BS), Bridges to the Doctorate (PhD), IMSD, IRACDA, MARC T36, MARC U-STAR, RISE and PREP.
The Theme of the TWD 2012 Meeting is “Revisiting the Past/Celebrating the Future.”  There will be opportunities to hear from senior leadership about the Institute’s plans for training as well as program-specific (e.g., T32, Bridges or IRACDA) sessions. The concurrent and repetitive nature of some of the meeting sessions will allow registrants to preselect sessions of interest and print out their individualized registration agenda pre-conference.
Registration for the TWD 2012 Meeting opens on January 9, 2012 and closes May 14, 2012 and seating is limited.  Registration is on a first-come first-served basis.  Click here to register.
